About

About

Though I was born in Alameda, California, and thus a U.S. citizen, I moved to Nigeria with my missionary parents before my first birthday. There we lived on a beautiful, yet remote mission station. Because the educational choices were few, beginning in first grade, I flew to boarding school 500 miles away.

My family returned to the States every few years for a furlough, and thus I had my senior year of high school in California in 1977. After that, I attended California State University, Fresno, graduated with a Business degree, and somehow simultaneously fell in love with a young pilot.

Two years later, I married my intrepid Scottish Fly Boy, Chris Warren, and we settled in the San Francisco Bay Area. While working part time as a bookkeeper and property manager I raised three children (a boy, a girl, and a bonus), who did a combination of public school and home school. In 2014 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and am now happily cancer-free.

My favorite activity is spending time with our three brilliant, young-adult children and our gorgeous daughter-in-law. To keep creativity sparking, I enjoy learning German, creating gluten-free recipes, and hosting teas for friends.

Shortly after my dad passed away in November 2015, I began writing about my experiences in Nigeria. Finally, I felt free to share some of my difficult memories without fear of hurting him.

Writing helps me make sense of my world. I hope that as you read my essays, you’ll find your world making a little more sense, too.

My devotionals and short stories are published in Inspire Press and The Upper Room.

See you along the journey!
