Hi friends, For those of you who are writing your personal story, or have ever thought about it, here’s a unique opportunity. If you want encouragement in journaling or writing your personal experiences, please join me tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) at 10 a.m. PST for a workshop hosted by Susy Flory of Everything Memoir. The class will be led by Marci Seither who has sold more than two dozen stories to Guideposts. In the 45-minute session, she shows us how…
Because I had the flu and traveled to the UK, I took the COVID-19 antibody test. But I was still surprised when I showed positive for the coronavirus.
Today, March 16, Chris and I are celebrating our 35th year of wedded bliss! For the past year we anticipated a month-long vacation in Scotland where Chris lived until he was five and where we had a second wedding reception on our honeymoon three and a half decades ago. We’ve had a delightful week here in the Old Country. However, travel restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19 have persuaded us to return to California. I’m so grateful to celebrate…
Over the past year and a half, I’ve written twenty-four of my childhood stories and have enjoyed the feedback from those who read them. Every month I posted the articles on my blog, then uploaded them to several Facebook groups for MKs (missionary kids). One of the groups is Kent Academy, the boarding school in Nigeria where I lived for grades one through nine (except grade five in California). I know most of the 540 members in the group, or…
This summer I’m taking a break from writing to restore my soul. In the meantime I’m re-purposing my daughter’s childhood bedroom into a sanctuary.
A heartfelt “Thank you” to all who have signed up on my website. I now have 51 subscribers … what a treasure! For the month of March, Chris and I are traveling in Scotland, celebrating our 33rd anniversary and his 60th birthday. Because he brought me to his homeland on our honeymoon, we’ve returned for every anniversary since our big 25th. It sounds romantic, doesn’t it? Until you consider the weather! Outside it’s 37° and feels like 28° due to…
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33 (NLT) Today’s Reading: Psalm 95:1-7 All month I’ve listened to online tutorials and have gradually designed and built my website, Above All Else. Creating an official blog was the fulfillment of a long-time dream. Back in the early 1980’s at Fresno State, I took several computer programming classes and loved them. Finally I’m putting some of that knowledge to…
I am a slow learner, apparently, and slowing down with each advancing year, obviously! But I am making progress during this Creative Retreat at Eileen’s beautiful Northstar home, along with my darling daughter, Heather. Great chatting, eating, walking, and sharing from the heart. Oh, and some progress made on this blog / website.
Secured my first-choice domain name, woohoo! Now to start writing!
